I get asked which is better, “WordPress or Blogger?” quite often. In fact, I’ve wondered the same thing as I began my blogging journey. I sent out the question to fellow Facebooker’s, my LinkedIn contacts, and peers, and based on the responses I received, it is a mixed review.
Both are fantastic sites to post your thoughts, press releases, and expertise, but does anyone really have a definitive answer to the question?
I was at a networking event a few days ago where an audience member asked the exact same question. The answer he received? “It depends on your audience.” I do not believe this is correct because both have positive and negative attributes. I agree that with the plethora of social media sites available to everyone, a select few should be chosen based on a target market, but I do not think one blogging site is better than the other based on a target market alone.
Very recently I started taking notice of my posts and the views I have received. According to the stats, my Blogger account has been viewed many more times than my WordPress account with the exact same information posted. I do not know for sure if it is because Blogger is linked with Google, or if Blogger has a stronger search method, but it is interesting data.
I would love to provide you with a definitive answer that is backed up with scientific data, but I do not have the answer to give. So, in the meantime, I post on both accounts with the goal in mind to reach as many consumers as possible. Yes, it is additional time that I must spend on the beloved Internet, but while I am growing my network, it is the only solution.
Which blog site do you use? I would enjoy some feedback and discussion on this topic.
In the interim, continue to network, and spread your message as far and wide as possible.
